You may select up to four cities in order of preference, restricted to the state of your present or permanent address. NTA can allot a different city for logistical reasons.

Corrections and common mistakes

The 2026 bulletin said corrections in certain fields would be allowed in a window to be notified. Media reports placed the 2026 Session 1 window on 1-2 December 2025. NTA does not accept corrections by post, fax, WhatsApp, email or hand, and uploaded photograph, signature and certificates were not to be corrected later.

Mistakes that cost candidates

Filing more than one application form (treated as unfair means and can cancel the result), using someone else's photograph or signature, choosing the wrong state code of eligibility, a name or date of birth that differs from the Class 10 certificate, selecting cities outside your address states, and leaving payment incomplete.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need separate registration for Session 2?

In 2026 the same application number was used for both sessions. Session 1 applicants logged in and paid the Session 2 fee in that window; candidates who skipped Session 1 could register when the Session 2 form opened. Confirm the 2027 process in the bulletin.

Is APAAR ID mandatory?

NTA's 2026 FAQ said APAAR ID was not mandatory. The 2026 form required a live photograph and identity verification through Aadhaar or DigiLocker or an uploaded ID. Rules may change for 2027.
