What OJEE is
The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination is a state-level computer based test. Under the Odisha Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Act, 2007, admission to government and private professional institutions is made through an approved entrance test followed by web-based counselling in order of merit. OJEE is that test for the courses it covers.
A candidate applies once, online, and can tick more than one course if eligible. Only candidates who appear in the test and reach the merit list can take part in counselling.
What OJEE does not cover
The OJEE 2026 brochure states that for B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Plan and Integrated M.Sc, candidates must appear and qualify in JEE Main 2026. For MBBS, BDS, BAMS and BHMS they must qualify in NEET (UG) 2026. GATE and GPAT qualified candidates can join counselling directly for the courses where those scores are accepted.
So a student aiming for a first-year B.Tech seat in an Odisha college sits JEE Main, then takes part in the OJEE Committee's web counselling using the JEE Main rank. The OJEE paper for engineering is limited to lateral entry (diploma and B.Sc holders) and a 2nd/Special OJEE for B.Tech.
