About KEAM
KEAM is the Kerala entrance process run by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations for engineering, pharmacy and architecture, while medical and allied courses use NEET-UG ranks under the same application. It is meant for Kerala-linked candidates who want seats in government, aided, cost-sharing and self-financing colleges filled through the Centralised Allotment Process. The engineering paper is a three-hour computer based test covering Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and its score is combined with Plus Two marks after normalisation. The 2027 notification has not been released; it is expected around December 2026 to January 2027, so treat all 2027 dates as tentative until the CEE publishes the prospectus.

What KEAM is
KEAM stands for Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) conducts the engineering and pharmacy entrance test and runs one online application for engineering, architecture, B.Pharm, MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Unani, agriculture, forestry, veterinary, fisheries and a few other courses.
Only engineering and B.Pharm have their own written test. Medical and medical-allied courses are ranked on NEET-UG, and architecture uses NATA scores with Plus Two marks.
Why the rank is different
From 2026 the engineering rank list gives equal weight, 50:50, to the normalised entrance score and the normalised marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of the final year of the qualifying exam (G.O.(Rt) No.1615/2025/HEDN dated 26.12.2025). The two parts are added to make an index mark out of 600.
Plus Two marks are normalised board by board, so the same marks do not carry identical value across boards.

Yes for counselling, but the rank comes from NEET-UG. You apply on the same KEAM application.

What is the KEAM engineering exam pattern?
150 MCQs in a 180-minute CBT: 75 Mathematics, 45 Physics and 30 Chemistry, with +4 and -1 marking.
How are Plus Two marks used?
Equal weightage of 50:50 is given to the normalised entrance score and normalised Plus Two marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry combined in the ratio 5:3:2. The rank list is out of 600.
What is the minimum score to be ranked?
A normalised entrance score of 10 out of 300. SC/ST candidates have no minimum but must answer at least one question.
What is the application fee?
In 2026 it was Rs 925 for General, Rs 400 for SC and nil for ST for engineering. Check the 2027 prospectus.
Is there a minimum age?
17 years completed on 31 December of the exam year (31 Dec 2026 for the 2026 cycle). No upper limit for engineering.
Is KEAM CBT or pen and paper?
The 2026 engineering and pharmacy test was a CBT in multiple sessions.
How does normalisation of sessions work?
CEE converts raw scores to percentiles per session and uses a Percentile Interpolated Average Method so scores are comparable.
Can I use JEE Main for Kerala admission?
KEAM ranks come only from the CEE rank list. JEE Main is used by JoSAA and other counselling.
When will the 2027 KEAM exam be held?
Not announced. Based on past cycles it may be around April 2027, but only a CEE notice is final.
Is there a re-exam if I miss my session?
No. The prospectus says no re-examination under any circumstances.
Can I challenge answer keys?
Yes, within 3 days of publication, at Rs 200 per question via the candidate portal.
