KEAM 2027 Exam Pattern
Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Commissioner for Entrance Examinations notices
The engineering entrance is a 150-question CBT with a heavy Mathematics component, as per the 2026 prospectus.
Paper structure
The relative weightage of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is 5:3:2, set by G.O.(Ms) No.153/99/H.Edn.
| Subject | Questions | Marks per question | Maximum marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 75 | 4 | 300 |
| Physics | 45 | 4 | 180 |
| Chemistry | 30 | 4 | 120 |
Marks per question come from the 2026 prospectus. The prospectus states the entrance score is normalised to an index of 300 across sessions; it does not spell out the raw-to-300 scaling, so follow the CEE bulletin. Duration 180 minutes.
Marking scheme
- Each question has five options and one most appropriate answer.
- Four marks for a correct response, minus one for a wrong response, none for no response.
- A candidate who fails to answer at least one question is disqualified from the rank list.
Mode and schedule
The exam is a CBT held in multiple sessions at selected venues across Kerala districts, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and the UAE. The 2026 session ran from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Reporting time was 12:00 PM, entry at 1:30 PM and a mock test at 1:45 PM.
Pharmacy paper
The Kerala Pharmacy Entrance Examination has 45 Chemistry and 30 Physics questions, 90 minutes, with the same marking scheme and a Chemistry:Physics weightage of 3:2.
Normalisation of sessions
Since sessions differ in difficulty, CEE uses a Percentile Interpolated Average Method approved by a normalisation committee. Raw marks become session percentiles, interpolated across sessions, and averaged. Normalised marks keep four decimal places and the index after normalisation is 300.
Rules inside the hall
- Only admit card, photo ID and a transparent ball-point pen are allowed.
- Rough sheets are given and must be returned.
- No calculators, watches, phones or electronic devices.
- No re-exam for missed sessions.
