About VITEEE
VITEEE is the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination, conducted by VIT for B.Tech admission at its Vellore, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and Bhopal campuses. It is a computer-based test in English, and scores from other exams are not used for these seats. It suits Class 12 students with 60 percent in PCM or PCB, with relaxations for some categories, who want a VIT campus. The score decides a rank, which is used for online counselling and branch allotment. The 2026 exam ran from 28 April to 3 May 2026. VIT has not issued a notification for 2027 on the pages we could verify.

What VITEEE is
VITEEE is the entrance examination of VIT for its B.Tech programmes. The university states that VITEEE is mandatory for B.Tech admission, and that Class 12 board marks, JEE Main and SAT scores are not considered. A single rank is used for seat allotment across the four campuses, with candidates choosing campus, programme and fee category during counselling.
Other VIT programmes such as B.Des, B.Arch, B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, B.Sc., B.Com., BBA and the five-year integrated programmes use separate application routes and do not need VITEEE.
Why it matters
VIT offers a large number of B.Tech specialisations, including CSE with AI/ML, cyber security, data science and many more, across four campuses. Your VITEEE rank decides which campus and branch you can get and which fee category you fall in. A better rank means a better choice of campus and branch and a lower tuition fee.

How admission works
After the exam VIT publishes ranks and opens online counselling, where you choose campus, programme and fee category by rank. Allotment depends on rank and seat availability. Provisional admission is valid only if your eligibility is confirmed at verification. See the Counselling tab for details.
Beware of fake websites
VIT warns of fake sites misusing the VITEEE name and says to use only vit.ac.in for admissions. VIT has also issued a circular against agents claiming direct admission; no payment should be made to anyone outside the official portal.
