What the exam is and what it is called

The Telangana test began as TS EAMCET and was renamed TS EAPCET in 2021 when medicine moved to NEET. Following the state's change of abbreviation from TS to TG, the official website and 2026 notification use TG EAPCET, and the portal is eapcet.tgche.ac.in. Students still search for TS EAMCET and TS EAPCET, so all three names mean the same exam.

JNTU Hyderabad conducted the 2026 test on behalf of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE). The convener university is assigned each year, so confirm the body in the 2027 notification.

Why it matters

The rank decides convener-quota seats in most Telangana engineering colleges. Private unaided colleges fill the rest through management and NRI quotas under state norms.

Seat reservation follows local and non-local rules. The 2026 notification refers to G.O.Ms. No. 15 (Higher Education Department) dated 27 February 2026 for these rules.
