CSAB 2027: Exam Date, Eligibility, Syllabus, Pattern

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Central Seat Allocation Board notices

CSAB is the follow-up counselling for the NIT+ system. It is a counselling process, so it has no exam pattern, syllabus or admit card.

About CSAB

The Central Seat Allocation Board conducts follow-up counselling for the NIT+ system after JoSAA ends. Its Special Rounds fill NIT, IIEST Shibpur, IIIT and other GFTI seats that remain vacant, and it also runs supernumerary and North-Eastern state and Union Territory rounds under AICTE reservation. It suits JEE Main candidates who missed JoSAA, lost or withdrew a seat, or want a better NIT+ seat; IIT seats are not included. There is no exam of its own, since the JEE Main rank is used. The 2026 Special Rounds ran from 28 July to 18 August 2026, and the 2027 schedule is not announced.

What CSAB does

The Central Seat Allocation Board frames the rules for seat allocation to NITs, IIEST Shibpur, IIITs and other GFTIs and, with the IITs' board, forms JoSAA. When JoSAA ends and seats remain vacant in the NIT+ system, CSAB conducts two Special Rounds on its own portal, csab.nic.in.

Apart from the Special Rounds, the 2026 brochure says CSAB also runs a Supernumerary Round for selected NITs (Durgapur, Calicut and SVNIT Surat) for candidates from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and NEUT rounds for North-Eastern states and Union Territories under the AICTE reservation scheme.

Why there is no pattern, syllabus or admit card tab

CSAB does not hold a test. Your JEE Main rank is the entry ticket, and the only document needed from the JEE side is the JEE Main 2026 admit card, uploaded during verification. For pattern, syllabus and admit card refer to the JEE Main hub.
