How to Use the JEE Advanced College Predictor 2026

The JEE Advanced college predictor 2026 is an IIT predictor by JEE Advanced rank covering all 23 IITs — IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Gandhinagar, and 14 more. It uses JoSAA 2023–2025 IIT opening and closing rank data to tell you which IIT you can get and how to shortlist IIT branches before JoSAA counselling 2026 choice filling.

  1. 1

Enter Your JEE Advanced CRL Rank

Input your JEE Advanced 2026 Common Rank List (CRL) rank. This jee rank predictor for IITs matches your CRL against JoSAA 2025 opening and closing ranks for all B.Tech, B.Arch, and dual degree programmes across all 23 IITs. Which IIT you will get with your rank depends on your CRL, category, and the branch — this predictor shows all eligible options at once.

  2. 2

Select Your Category for OBC, EWS, SC, ST Predictions

The JEE Advanced college predictor with OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD category rank support activates reserved seat predictions at IITs. IIT seats are allocated using CRL for OPEN seats and category rank for reserved seats. Select your category to see which IIT branches are within reach through both OPEN and reserved category quotas at IIT opening and closing rank thresholds.

  3. 3

Enter Your Category Rank for Reserved IIT Seats

For OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, enter your category rank for complete IIT branch predictions. Even if your CRL is high, your category rank may qualify you for reserved seats at top old IITs. Female candidates also get supernumerary seat predictions — additional seats at all 23 IITs created specifically to improve female enrollment in IIT programmes.

  4. 4

Shortlist IIT Branches Before JoSAA Choice Filling

The JEE Advanced college predictor displays predicted IIT and branch combinations with JoSAA 2025 cutoff ranges. Use the IIT opening and closing rank predictor results to categorise options as safe (rank better than opening rank), likely (within closing rank), and ambitious (just above closing rank). Build your JoSAA counselling 2026 choice list with IIT branches ranked by preference — not just by cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about IIT predictions, category ranks, cutoffs, and JoSAA counselling process.

1
How accurate is the JEE Advanced College Predictor?
Our IIT predictor uses historical JoSAA counseling cutoff data from the past 3 years across all 23 IITs. While predictions are highly reliable, actual cutoffs may vary based on seat matrix changes, exam difficulty, and competition. Use this as a planning tool, not a guarantee.
2
What is the difference between CRL and Category rank?
CRL (Common Rank List) is the all-India rank across all candidates. Category rank is your position within your reserved category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS, PwD). IIT admissions use both ranks - some seats are filled through CRL, others through category ranks. Always enter your CRL for the most accurate predictions.
3
Can I get IIT with a rank above 10,000?
Yes! While top IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee) typically close under CRL 5,000 for popular branches, newer IITs and less competitive branches may accept ranks up to 15,000-20,000. Female-only supernumerary seats also provide additional opportunities.
4
What are female-only supernumerary seats in IITs?
To increase female enrollment, IITs offer additional supernumerary seats for female candidates. These are extra seats beyond the regular sanctioned strength, created specifically for female students. They provide better admission opportunities for female candidates.
5
Which IITs are considered 'Old IITs' vs 'New IITs'?
Tier-1 IITs (established pre-2000, highest cutoffs): Bombay (1958), Delhi (1961), Kanpur (1959), Kharagpur (1951), Madras (1959), Roorkee (2001), Guwahati (1994). Second-generation IITs (2008–2009, mid-range cutoffs): Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Gandhinagar, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ropar, Mandi. Third-wave IITs (2015+, lower cutoffs): Palakkad, Tirupati, Dharwad, Bhilai, Goa, Jammu. All IITs offer B.Tech through JoSAA.
6
How are B.Tech and B.Arch admissions different in IITs?
B.Tech admission is through JEE Advanced rank in JoSAA counseling for all IITs. B.Arch admission is available only at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee, and requires additional Architecture aptitude test. The cutoffs for B.Arch are typically higher than many B.Tech branches.
7
What should I do if my rank is in the preparatory course range?
If you rank in the preparatory course range (typically near category cutoffs), you may be offered a preparatory course of 1 year before joining B.Tech. This is designed for reserved category students who marginally miss the direct admission cutoff.
8
Can I change my branch after joining IIT?
Branch change is possible after the first semester based on your performance in the first semester exams. However, it's competitive and depends on vacancy availability. Most IITs allow branch change if your CGPA meets the minimum criteria.
9
What JEE Advanced rank is needed for CSE at IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi?
Based on JoSAA 2025 closing ranks (General/CRL): IIT Bombay CSE closes around rank 60–80, IIT Delhi CSE around rank 100–150, IIT Madras CSE around rank 120–180, IIT Kanpur CSE around rank 250–350, IIT Kharagpur CSE around rank 300–450. Female supernumerary seats have slightly relaxed cutoffs. Category ranks have different thresholds.
10
What is the minimum rank to get into any IIT?
In JoSAA 2025, the last seat in any IIT was allotted at approximately rank 15,000–18,000 (General CRL) for the least competitive branches at newer IITs. For reserved categories, the effective rank can be higher. Female supernumerary seats also extend the range. Use our predictor to find your realistic options.
11
When should I use the JEE Advanced College Predictor?
Use it as soon as your JEE Advanced 2026 result is declared on June 1, 2026. It helps you shortlist IITs and branches before JoSAA choice filling opens. Knowing your realistic options lets you fill choices strategically — ambitious picks at the top, safe choices below. The predictor uses JoSAA 2025 cutoff data.
