JEE Main 2026 Admit Card

Download hall ticket and check exam day instructions

The JEE Main admit card, also called the hall ticket, is the single most essential document for exam day — without it, NTA does not permit entry into the examination centre under any circumstances, regardless of how correctly you registered or paid your fee. It is released by NTA on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, separately for Session 1 and Session 2, typically a few days to about a week before each session's exam dates. NTA does not send admit cards by post or courier; they exist only as a downloadable PDF that candidates must access directly through their candidate login using their application number and password or date of birth.

Because the admit card carries your allotted exam centre address, exam date, shift timing, and reporting time, it should be checked immediately and carefully upon release — not just for your own convenience in planning travel, but because any discrepancy in personal details (name spelling, category, photograph clarity) is far easier to flag and potentially resolve with NTA in the days before the exam than on the exam day itself. Many candidates also don't realize the admit card continues to matter after the exam: some counselling authorities (JoSAA, CSAB, and certain state boards) request a copy of the admit card during document verification, so it's worth saving both a printed copy and a digital backup (email or cloud storage) well beyond exam day, ideally through the end of the admission process.

Because exam centre allotment is finalized when the admit card is generated, no requests for centre change are entertained after this point except in genuinely exceptional circumstances communicated directly by NTA. This makes it important to select your preferred exam cities thoughtfully at the time of registration itself, since your eventual centre is drawn from that preference list and cannot be altered later through any appeal process.

Common Issues & Solutions

Most admit card issues stem from mismatched or forgotten login credentials, so it helps to save your application number and password securely (rather than relying on memory) right after registration. If you genuinely cannot resolve a download or discrepancy issue through the website's self-help options, contact the NTA helpline well before exam day rather than waiting until the last 24–48 hours, since response times can vary during peak periods right before an exam.
