Frequently Asked Questions - CSAB 2026

Everything you need to know about CSAB Special Rounds

1
What is CSAB and how is it different from JoSAA?
CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) conducts special counselling rounds after JoSAA closes to fill remaining vacant seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. It is a second chance if you missed JoSAA or want to upgrade to a better college or branch.
2
Which ranks do I need to enter for CSAB?
You need both your JEE Main AIR (All India Rank) and your category rank (for OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST, or PwD categories). General category students only need the AIR rank.
3
How many rounds does CSAB have?
CSAB 2025 had 3 special rounds: CSAB Round 1, CSAB Round 2, and CSAB Round 3. This predictor uses the last available round cutoff for each program to give you the most conservative (accurate) estimate of admission chances.
4
Can I participate in CSAB if I already accepted a JoSAA seat?
Yes, you can participate in CSAB even if you accepted a JoSAA seat. However, if you accept a CSAB seat at a higher-preference college, your JoSAA seat will be cancelled. You must weigh the trade-off carefully before upgrading.
5
What does Certain / Likely / Possible / Unlikely mean?
Certain - your rank is better than the 2025 CSAB opening rank.
Likely - your rank falls within the opening–closing range.
Possible - your rank is within 15% above the closing rank (possible in favorable conditions).
Unlikely - your rank is significantly above the closing rank.
6
Are CSAB cutoffs the same as JoSAA cutoffs?
No. CSAB cutoffs are typically more relaxed (higher rank numbers) than JoSAA because CSAB rounds happen later and fill remaining seats. Students with ranks slightly above JoSAA cutoffs may still get admission through CSAB.
7
Do I need to re-register for CSAB separately?
Yes, CSAB requires separate registration even if you participated in JoSAA. You must register on the official CSAB portal (csab.nic.in) during the registration window, pay the registration fee, and lock your choices.
