What COMEDK UGET is
COMEDK, the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka, is an autonomous merit determination authority created by private college associations. Since NEET became the only route for medical and dental admissions, COMEDK conducts the engineering test for around 150 KUPECA member colleges.
The test is held under the Supreme Court judgments on common entrance tests by private institutions (TMA Pai, Islamic Academy and PA Inamdar), which require a fair, transparent and non-exploitative process.
Why it matters
- It is the main route to private engineering seats in Karnataka, including leading Bengaluru colleges.
- The exam and counselling are open to candidates from any state; Karnataka domicile matters only for KKR seats and lower qualifying marks.
- Scores are valid only for admission in that academic year (2026-27 for the 2026 test).
