AP ECET is not an entrance for Class 12 students. It is the gateway for diploma and B.Sc (Mathematics) candidates entering the second year of engineering or pharmacy degrees in Andhra Pradesh.

About AP ECET

AP ECET is the Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test for lateral entry. It is meant for diploma holders and B.Sc (Mathematics) graduates who want to join the second year of B.E./B.Tech or B.Pharmacy in the state, and it is not for students coming straight after Class 12. A state university conducts the computer based test on behalf of APSCHE, and the rank decides seats in online counselling run in phases. The 2026 test was held on 23 April, with results on 7 May. The 2027 notification is awaited, and the 2026 cycle started in early February, so a similar timeline is likely but unconfirmed.

What AP ECET is

AP ECET stands for Andhra Pradesh Engineering Common Entrance Test. It is organised for APSCHE by a state university appointed each year. For 2026, most sources name JNTU Anantapur as the conducting university, while some pages say JNTU Kakinada. The conducting university changes from year to year, so read the name in the official notification on the APSCHE portal.

Candidates who qualify get a rank. The rank, together with category, local area and the order of web options, decides the college and branch allotted in counselling. It is the only route into lateral entry seats in Andhra Pradesh colleges that follow the state admission process.

Do not confuse it with AP EAPCET

AP EAPCET is for students who finish Class 12 and want first year B.Tech, pharmacy or agriculture seats. AP ECET is a separate test, a separate rank list and a separate counselling. A diploma holder does not need an EAPCET score for lateral entry.
