About GITAM GAT

GAT, the GITAM Admission Test, is the entrance examination of GITAM Deemed to be University, which is based in Visakhapatnam and also has campuses in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. It suits students who want B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Pharm, BBA, BCA, B.Sc, nursing or selected postgraduate programmes at a private deemed university. The test is computer based, held in several phases, and the score decides both admission and merit scholarships. Education portals report the B.Tech paper pattern, but GITAM's own site could not be verified, so confirm details on gat.gitam.edu. For 2027, Phase 1 is tentatively expected around December 2026 and is not yet confirmed.

What GAT is

GAT stands for GITAM Admission Test. GITAM runs it in more than one phase through the admission year, so a candidate can pick a phase and, in many cases, a slot. Scores decide admission and also merit scholarships at the three campuses.

Education portals describe the B.Tech paper as a computer based test of 100 questions for 200 marks with no negative marking. Some papers are conducted online with remote proctoring and others at test centres.

Campuses and other routes

  • Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru campuses accept GAT.
  • GITAM Bengaluru is reported to accept JEE Main, KCET and COMEDK UGET scores too.
  • Fees vary widely by programme and campus; check the fee table of the current prospectus.
