What MHT CET is

MHT CET is conducted by the State CET Cell under the Admissions Regulating Authority framework created by the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015. The Commissioner of the State CET Cell is the Competent Authority for the exam and for the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

The test has two groups. PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) is for B.E./B.Tech and related engineering courses. PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) is for B.Pharm, Pharm.D and agriculture-linked courses. A candidate can take either group or both. Marks do not carry from one group to the other.

Why it matters

  • It is mandatory for candidates under Maharashtra State and Minority candidature seeking B.E./B.Tech or B.Pharm/Pharm.D.
  • For All India candidature, JEE Main (for engineering) and NEET (for pharmacy) are preferred over MHT CET, as per the 2026 brochure.
  • Seat type depends on Home University, Other than Home University and State Level categories, which affect which seats you compete for.

How admission works

After the result, candidates register for CAP on the admission portal, upload documents, and get verified. The Cell publishes provisional and final merit lists. Candidates then fill options and are allotted seats in CAP Rounds I to IV, followed by vacancy and institute-level rounds. Round-wise dates are given later in the counselling section.
