JEE Main 2027 Helpline and Grievance — How to Get Help

Stuck during registration? Here is how to reach NTA, what to write, how to escalate, and how to avoid fake websites.

Where Things Stand

As of mid-October 2026, NTA has not opened JEE Main 2027 Session 1 registration or released the Information Bulletin, so there is no 2027 helpdesk notice to quote. What follows is based on how support worked in the JEE Main 2026 cycle. Treat it as a map of the likely channels and confirm every detail in the official bulletin at jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The most useful habit is simple: solve what you can from the bulletin first, and contact NTA only for problems that need a human. Most registration queries (photo size, category document, which fee applies) are answered in the bulletin and in the JEE Main 2027 Information Bulletin guide.

What the 2026 Bulletin Says About Writing to NTA

Para 5.9 (Correspondence with NTA) is the closest thing to an official grievance procedure. It asks candidates to write preferably by email and sets conditions. Knowing them avoids a wasted mail.

  • An email query is entertained only if it is not anonymous and contains the name, application number, postal address and contact number of the sender.
  • Vague or general queries, and queries covered by the information already in the bulletin, are not entertained.
  • Queries from persons claiming to be representatives, associates or officials of the candidate are not entertained.
  • NTA will not reveal by phone or email its internal documentation or status, its internal decision-making process, dates or venues of internal meetings or names of staff, or anything else it considers should not be revealed.
  • Corrections to particulars or uploaded images sent by Post, Fax, WhatsApp, email or by hand are not entertained (Para 5.4, instruction 10).
  • Documents such as the Confirmation Page need not be sent to NTA by post, fax, WhatsApp, email or by hand (2026 FAQ no. 26).

Payment Problems: Bank and Gateway Helplines

The 2026 bulletin (Appendix I) tells candidates whose fee status is not OK, or whose Confirmation Page is not generated after payment, to contact the helpline or email of the concerned bank or payment gateway rather than NTA. The fee could be paid through ICICI, HDFC, Canara or SBI gateways in any payment mode. Appendix I printed the following general-purpose contacts for 2026.

Gateway usedAs printed in the 2026 bulletin
HDFC BankEmail: Pg.service@hdfcbank.com (level 1 PG Service)
State Bank of IndiaHelpdesk 011-26391804; customer care 1800112211; SMS 8008202020
Canara BankEmail: pgsupport@billdesk.com and the Canara Bank addresses listed in Appendix I
ICICI BankCustomer support helpline 18602332332 (9 AM to 6 PM); email pgsupport.ind@worldline.com

Gateway contacts can change every cycle. Use the list printed in the 2027 bulletin, and see fee payment failed and refund for the process.

How the 2026 Cycle Used Public Notices to Resolve Grievances

In 2026, several widespread problems were settled by public notices on the portal rather than by individual replies. Reading the notice list on jeemain.nta.nic.in is often the fastest way to learn whether your problem already has an official fix. These are the 2026 examples.

Notice dateWhat it did
29 Sep 2025Advisory to update Aadhaar, UDID and category certificates before applying, to avoid discrepancies and rejection.
31 Oct 2025Opened Session 1 applications (31 Oct to 27 Nov 2025) and gave 011-40759000 / 011-69227700 and jeemain@nta.ac.in for application difficulty.
20 Nov 2025Announced the one-time Session 1 correction window, 1 to 2 Dec 2025 (up to 11:50 P.M.).
2 Jan 2026Advisory for candidates whose live photo did not match UIDAI records when they used an ID other than Aadhaar. They could upload an attested certificate by 15 Jan 2026.
1 Feb 2026Opened Session 2 applications (1 to 25 Feb 2026), with fee payment up to 25 Feb 2026.
21 Feb 2026Announced the one-time Session 2 correction window, 27 to 28 Feb 2026.
12 Mar 2026Re-opened the Session 2 portal from 12 March afternoon to 13 March 2026 (09:00 P.M., fee up to 11:50 P.M.) after multiple representations, with no correction facility afterwards.

The reopening shows that representations can lead to an official relief, but only as a public notice for everyone, never as a personal exception. Do not plan around a reopening: the 21 Feb 2026 notice itself said there would be no further extension. For how the Session 2 process ran, see Session 1 registration vs Session 2, and for deadlines see JEE Main 2027 registration last date.

How to Write a Query That Gets Answered

A vague message such as "my form is not working, please help" usually goes nowhere. A helpdesk handles hundreds of similar mails, so give them what they need to act without writing back to you.

  • Subject line: exam name, session, application number and a four-word issue, for example 'JEE Main Session 1 – payment debited, status pending'.
  • Send from the email ID registered in your application. Mail from an unknown address is hard to verify.
  • State your full name, date of birth, category and the mobile number registered in the form.
  • Describe the problem in two or three sentences: what you did, what appeared, and when.
  • Attach proof: screenshots of the error, bank SMS or statement, transaction ID and the confirmation page if any.
  • Say what you want: a status check, a reversal, a reopened facility. One request per mail.
  • Do not send Aadhaar, passwords or OTPs by mail unless the official notice specifically asks for a document upload.

Escalation Ladder

Escalate in order, and keep dates for each step. Jumping straight to social media or multiple parallel emails tends to slow things down.

  1. Re-read the bulletin and the portal FAQ. Many "errors" are rules, such as a locked field after the correction window.
  2. Retry on a different browser or device after clearing cache, and avoid the last-hour rush when the portal is slow.
  3. Call the helpline for a quick answer and note the date, time and what you were told.
  4. Send one well-formed email with proof. Wait a reasonable period, typically a few working days, before following up.
  5. Follow up on the same thread, quoting your first mail, rather than starting a new one.
  6. For unresolved grievances, use the written route that Para 5.9 of the 2026 bulletin names, which is email with your name, application number, postal address and contact number. The bulletin names no further internal appeal level, and we have not found one in the 2026 notices, so check whether the 2027 bulletin adds one.

For login troubles in particular, our guide on recovering your JEE Main application number and password may save you a mail.

Which Problem Goes Where

ProblemRoute
Money debited, application not confirmedWait for bank reversal window, then email with transaction ID. See the fee payment failure guide.
Wrong name, date of birth, category or paper enteredUse the official correction window; helpdesk email cannot normally override it.
Photo or signature rejectedRe-upload as per the bulletin specifications; see our photo and signature size guide. In 2026 the live photograph, signature and Class 10 document were the uploads, and the correction window did not allow changing the photograph.
Scribe or accessibility support neededFollow the PwD process in the bulletin; see our PwD and scribe page.
Discrepancy in particulars, photo or signature on the admit cardThe 2026 bulletin (Para 5.2) says approach the NTA helpline from 10:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M. immediately, and still appear with the downloaded admit card; NTA says it will correct its record later.
Admit card will not downloadThe 2026 bulletin says call the NTA helpline between 10:00 A.M. and 05:00 P.M. Admit cards are not sent by post.
Answer key or response sheet disputeUse the paid challenge window announced in the official notice (Rs 200 per question in 2026). No grievance is entertained after the result.
Chosen exam city not allottedNot a grievance NTA can fix: the 2026 bulletin says NTA may allot a different city and the decision is final. See the exam city choice guide.
Someone asks you for money to fix your formDo not pay. Report to NTA and local cyber-crime authorities.

Candidates with disabilities who need a scribe or extra time should start early; details are in JEE Main 2027 registration for PwD and scribe. For deadline-linked fixes, see the application correction window guide.

Scams and Fake Websites

Every registration season brings look-alike websites, cyber cafes that overcharge, and callers who promise a "management seat" or a centre of your choice. Protect yourself with a few rules.

  • Type the address yourself: jeemain.nta.nic.in. Do not click registration links forwarded on WhatsApp or sponsored search results.
  • The fee is paid only on the official application portal through the listed payment modes. Never transfer money to a personal UPI ID or bank account.
  • NTA does not sell seats, rank improvement or centre allotment. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying.
  • Never share OTPs, card details or your password with a helper. A trusted adult can sit beside you, but you should hold the credentials.
  • If you use a cyber cafe, check the email ID and mobile number entered. They must be yours, or you will lose access to every later message.
  • Report fraud on the national cyber-crime reporting portal and mention it to NTA through the official helpdesk.

Many costly errors are self-inflicted rather than scams; our list of JEE Main 2027 registration mistakes to avoid covers them.

JEE Main 2027 Helpline and Grievance – FAQs

Common questions about reaching NTA and resolving registration problems

1
Where do I find the official JEE Main 2027 helpline number?
NTA has not yet notified 2027 contact details. In the 2026 cycle, NTA public notices and the FAQ document printed the helpline +91-11-40759000 (also written 011-40759000), a second number 011-69227700 on several notices and on the Contact Us page, and the email jeemain@nta.ac.in. Verify them on the Contact Us page of jeemain.nta.nic.in once the 2027 bulletin is out, because contact details can change between cycles. Do not copy them from a social media post or coaching page.
2
Does NTA reply to every email?
NTA does not promise a reply to every email. The 2026 Information Bulletin (Para 5.9, Correspondence with NTA) says an email query is entertained only if it is not anonymous and contains the sender's name, application number, postal address and contact number. Vague or general queries, and queries already answered in the bulletin, are not entertained, and queries from claimed representatives or associates of the candidate are not entertained either. NTA does not publish a reply time, so do not rely on a third-party estimate.
3
What should I include when I write to the NTA helpdesk?
Per Para 5.9 of the 2026 bulletin: your name, application number, postal address and contact number. Add the session, the exact problem, the date and time it happened, the payment reference or transaction ID if money is involved, and screenshots. Writing from the email address registered in your application is our practical advice so NTA can match you.
4
Can NTA change my details after the correction window closes?
No. The 2026 bulletin (Para 5.4, instruction 10) says any request for change in particulars and uploaded images at any stage will not be considered, and that corrections sent by Post, Fax, WhatsApp, email or by hand are not entertained. In 2026 there was one dedicated one-time correction window for each session (1 to 2 December 2025 for Session 1 and 27 to 28 February 2026 for Session 2), and the notices said no correction would be entertained after it. See our guide to the JEE Main 2027 correction window.
5
Is there a way to challenge the answer key or my recorded responses?
Yes. The 2026 bulletin (Para 5.6) provides a challenge window in which candidates challenge the provisional answer key with a non-refundable online payment of Rs 200 per question challenged, and it states that no grievance about answer keys or recorded responses is entertained after the result is declared. Only paid challenges made through the key challenge link in the stipulated time are considered, and NTA's decision is final. Treat the 2027 window dates in the notice as final.
6
How do I know a JEE Main website is fake?
The only official domains to trust are those under nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in. Be wary of look-alike names, sites asking for extra fees to guarantee a seat or a better centre, and WhatsApp or Telegram numbers claiming to be NTA officers. NTA does not take registration money outside the official portal.
7
I paid but my application shows incomplete. Who do I contact?
The 2026 bulletin says the Confirmation Page is generated only after successful payment. If it is not generated, the transaction is treated as cancelled and you contact your bank or payment gateway for a refund, but you must make another payment to complete the form. NTA's 2026 FAQ adds that excess amounts from failed transactions are refunded later, and the bulletin says such multiple payments are reconciled after the final result is declared. Appendix I lists bank and gateway helplines. Our page on JEE Main 2027 fee payment failure and refund covers the proof to keep.
