JEE Main 2027 Exam City Slip — What It Is & When It's Released

Understand what an exam city intimation slip is and its typical release timing — not yet applicable for 2027 since exam dates aren't announced.

What Is the Exam City Intimation Slip?

It's an early, preliminary notice — separate from the admit card — that tells you which city your JEE Main exam will be conducted in, without yet revealing the exact test center or exam timing. It exists purely to help candidates and families plan travel and accommodation ahead of the exam, especially for candidates traveling to a different city.

The full admit card, with the specific center address, reporting time, and other exam-day details, is released separately and closer to the exam date.

Typical Release Timeline

DocumentHistorical Timing (Relative to Exam)

Exact gaps vary by session and year — always check the official notice for that cycle.

Why It's Not Relevant Yet for 2027

The exam city slip only makes sense once actual exam dates are locked in — and JEE Main 2027 hasn't even had its notification released yet (expected late October/early November 2026). Working backward from an expected Session 1 in the last week of January 2027, the exam city slip for Session 1 would realistically not appear until roughly early-to-mid January 2027 at the earliest, and even that is speculative until the official calendar is out.

JEE Main 2027 Exam City Slip – FAQs

Common questions about the exam city intimation slip

1
What is the JEE Main exam city intimation slip?
It's a preliminary document NTA releases before the admit card, informing each candidate of the city (not the exact exam center) where their exam will be held. It lets candidates plan travel and accommodation in advance, since the exact center and detailed admit card come later, closer to the exam date.
2
When is the exam city slip typically released?
Historically, NTA releases the exam city intimation slip roughly 2-3 weeks before the exam date, after the application process closes and before the final admit card. The exact gap varies slightly by session and year.
3
Is the JEE Main 2027 exam city slip out yet?
No. Since JEE Main 2027 dates have not even been officially announced yet (expected around late October/early November 2026 for the notification, with Session 1 expected last week of January 2027), the exam city slip — which comes weeks before the actual exam — is many months away and cannot be released yet.
4
How do I download the exam city intimation slip?
Historically, it's downloaded by logging into your application portal account with your application number and password/date of birth on the official NTA JEE Main website. A direct link or notification is usually also sent via the registered email/SMS.
5
Can I request a change of exam city after the slip is released?
Generally no — the exam city is allotted based on the preferences you filled during registration and available capacity. There is typically no post-slip city change option, which is why choosing your preferred cities carefully at the registration stage matters.
6
What should I do if there's an error on my exam city slip?
Historically, NTA provides a short correction/grievance window for factual errors (like a wrong name spelling) shortly after any intimation document is released. Check the official notice for the exact grievance process and window for that cycle.
