BITSAT 2027 Preparation
Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Birla Institute of Technology and Science notices
BITSAT rewards speed and accuracy on NCERT-level concepts plus a fast-moving English and reasoning section. Plan around the 180-minute, 130-question format.
Core strategy
- Aim to solve 130 questions in under 180 minutes. That leaves time for the bonus 12 only if you are consistently fast and accurate.
- Finish NCERT Class 11 and 12 first, then switch to timed practice.
- Take full-length mocks in 3-hour blocks and review every wrong answer. Use the sections in your preferred order since there is no sectional time limit.
- Guess selectively: each wrong answer costs 1 against 3 for a right one, so guess only when you can eliminate options.
Subject-wise tips
- Physics and Chemistry: clear Class 11 and 12 basics; practise numericals for speed. Memorise formulae for electrostatics, current and modern physics.
- Mathematics: calculus, coordinate geometry, algebra and probability give the most reliable returns.
- English: practise grammar rules and vocabulary daily and read passages quickly.
- Logical Reasoning: 20 questions at 3 marks each are a major scoring edge; practise series, analogies, pattern and paper-cutting questions.
Recommended resources
- NCERT Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for Classes 11 and 12.
- Standard JEE Main-level books for problem practice, such as HC Verma for Physics and RD Sharma or NCERT exemplar for Mathematics.
- Previous BITSAT-style mock tests from reputed coaching platforms. BITS itself does not provide model papers.
- Word Power Made Easy and a good grammar book for English.
Month-by-month plan (for an April 2027 Session 1)
| Period | Focus |
|---|---|
| Now to Dec 2026 | Finish syllabus, build formula sheets, begin English and reasoning practice |
| Jan to Feb 2027 | Chapter-wise tests, finish weak topics, start timed sectional practice |
| March 2027 | Full-length mocks twice a week, speed drills, fix the edit window and slot booking |
| April 2027 | Final revision; one mock every two days; rest before Session 1 |
| May 2027 | If Session 2 is planned, review mistakes from Session 1 and retest |
A suggested plan only; adjust it once the official 2027 dates are announced.
Mistakes to avoid
- Treating BITSAT like JEE Main with fewer questions; the time pressure is very different.
- Skipping English and reasoning. They are 30 of the 130 questions.
- Opting for bonus questions with unreviewed answers; you cannot go back.
- Using outdated pattern information (150 questions, 450 marks).
