Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA)
TNEA is not an entrance exam. It is the centralised online counselling for B.E./B.Tech seats in Tamil Nadu, and merit is decided purely by Class 12 marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This hub covers the process, dates, fees, rank calculation, reservation and rounds.

TNEA 2027 Counselling

TNEA counselling is the core of the process. It is fully online, rank-wise and conducted in three main rounds plus supplementary counselling.
Counselling process

Special reservation counselling
Government school 7.5% special categories ran 13 to 14 July 2026; general special categories 15 to 18 July.

Choice filling
Enter and lock your college-branch priority list in your round's window.

Tentative allotment
A tentative allotment is released the next day for review.

Confirmation
Respond within the 1 to 2 day confirmation window.

Provisional allotment
The final allotment letter is released and fees are paid.

Reporting
Report to the allotted college with original documents, usually within about five days.
Seat acceptance options
- Accept and Join: confirm the seat and report to the college.
- Accept and Upward: keep the seat but seek a better one in the next round; the seat is never downgraded.
- Decline and Upward: reject the seat and try for a better one, which carries risk.
- Decline and Move to Next Round: stay eligible for later rounds.
- Decline and Quit: exit TNEA permanently.
If you do not respond in the confirmation window, you can lose the seat and the right to further rounds.

Reported for the 2026 cycle. A refund of the fee is possible if no seat is obtained; confirm the rule in the brochure. Candidates under the 7.5% scheme get a full fee waiver per G.O. Ms. No. 221.

- Provisional allotment order and fee receipt
- Original Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and Transfer Certificate
- Original community and nativity certificates
- Government school and first graduate certificates, if claimed
- Passport photographs
Key rules
- Choices are locked before the deadline; you cannot edit them after.
- Upward movement happens between confirmation and the next round.
- Vacant seats after Round 3 go to supplementary counselling (about 54,000 seats per a media summary).
- Unfilled SCA seats convert to SC at the end of counselling.
