How the engineering rank is made
The bulletin says engineering merit is based on marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the Common Entrance Test and in the Qualifying Examination, taken in equal proportions. That is the 50 percent weightage of 2nd PUC marks: half of the merit comes from KCET and half from PUC PCM marks.
Farm science courses use PCMB marks in the same equal proportion. B.V.Sc & A.H., B.Pharm and Pharm.D use CET marks only, with B.Pharm and Pharm.D taking the higher of PCM or PCB.
Tie-breaking
For engineering, equal merit is decided by CET Mathematics marks first, then CET Physics marks, with further steps given in the rules. For Naturopathy and Yoga the order is Biology then Chemistry.
Intermediary ranks and withheld results
- Results are withheld if qualifying marks are missing. Enter the marks on the KEA portal and the rank follows.
- Wrongly marked version codes or changed PUC marks lead to a new rank placed between two existing ranks, such as 1234.5, without disturbing others.
- Re-totalling or revaluation of OMR sheets is not entertained.
Validity and next steps
The rank is valid for that admission year. After the result, complete document verification and then enter options for counselling. Reported 2026 figures: 3,09,014 candidates appeared and 2,92,782 valid ranks were issued (secondary sources, not checked against KEA).
