KCET 2027 Preparation

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Karnataka Examinations Authority notices

KCET rewards strong PUC fundamentals and speed. Half your rank also depends on PUC marks, so board preparation counts.

Strategy

  • Treat PUC marks as half the merit: a few extra PUC marks can shift your rank as much as KCET marks.
  • Cover the Karnataka PUC textbooks first, then practice questions.
  • Since there is no negative marking, attempt every question.
  • Solve a set of papers within 80 minutes to build speed.

Subject tips

  • Physics: learn formulae with units and do numerical practice for electricity, optics and modern physics.
  • Chemistry: do NCERT-style theory for inorganic and organic, as questions are often direct.
  • Mathematics: calculus, vectors and 3D geometry carry weight; practise shortcuts.
  • Biology: focus on diagrams, physiology and genetics.

Resources

  • Karnataka PUC textbooks for both years.
  • NCERT books for Chemistry and Biology.
  • KEA previous question papers and key answers.
  • Mock tests under timed conditions.

Month-by-month plan

MonthsFocus
Months 1-3Finish 1st PUC revision and strengthen weak chapters
Months 4-6Complete 2nd PUC with chapter-wise MCQs
Months 7-8Full syllabus revision and PUC board exam preparation
Final 6 weeksPrevious papers and full mocks, with error log review

Mistakes to avoid

  • Ignoring PUC marks while chasing only the entrance score.
  • Marking two options for one question.
  • Wrong version code on the OMR sheet.
  • Missing document verification or RD number entry.
