JoSAA 2027 Application Form

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Joint Seat Allocation Authority notices

Registration is online at josaa.nic.in. There is no separate registration fee for JoSAA itself; you pay a seat acceptance fee only after a seat is allotted.

Steps to register and fill choices

  1. 1

    Read the business rules

Download the JoSAA business rules and information bulletin for the year. They define eligibility, quotas, the willingness options and refund rules.

  2. 2

    Register

Log in with your JEE Main application number and password, then complete the registration form. IIT candidates also enter their JEE Advanced details.

  3. 3

    Fill choices

Add institute and programme combinations in order of preference. The list can be long, and the order decides what you get.

  4. 4

    Use the mock allotments

Mock allotments show what your choices would have given. Edit and reorder before the deadline.

  5. 5

    Lock choices

Lock the final list. Unlocked choices are auto-locked at the deadline.

  6. 6

    After allotment

Pay the seat acceptance fee, upload documents and pick Freeze, Float or Slide in the window given for the round.

Documents for verification

  • Class 10 marksheet, certificate, Aadhaar or birth certificate for date of birth.
  • Class 12 marksheet and certificate.
  • JEE Main admit card, and JEE Advanced admit card and rank card for IITs.
  • Category certificate (SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS) in the government format. OBC-NCL and EWS certificates for 2026 had to be issued on or after 1 April 2026.
  • PwD certificate and, where applicable, a certificate for difficulty in writing.
  • Bank cheque copy or passbook image, medical certificate, and OCI or PIO card and passport where applicable.

Common mistakes

Keeping too few choices, ordering by institute name rather than preference, ignoring home state versus other state seats, and missing the fee or document deadline are the usual reasons candidates lose seats. If a category certificate is invalid, the category may be converted to the unreserved one for seat allocation.
