JoSAA 2027 Eligibility
Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Joint Seat Allocation Authority notices
Eligibility depends on the rank list you qualified in and on the rules of each institute. Qualifying does not guarantee admission.
Qualifying examination
| Programme | Qualifying rank |
|---|---|
| IITs (B.Tech, B.Arch, integrated programmes) | JEE Advanced rank for the year |
| NITs, IIEST, IIITs and GFTIs (B.E. or B.Tech) | JEE Main Paper 1 rank |
| B.Arch | JEE Main Paper 2A |
| B.Planning | JEE Main Paper 2B |
B.Arch at IITs also needs the Architecture Aptitude Test after JEE Advanced.
Class 12 marks and attempts
For the NIT+ system the usual condition is at least 75 percent in Class 12 (65 percent for SC, ST and PwD), or being in the top 20 percentile of your board. The IIT rules and the JEE Advanced attempt limits are set in the JEE Advanced brochure for the year. Check the current JoSAA information bulletin for the exact wording, as institutes can add their own requirements.
Candidates who passed Class 12 abroad or whose qualifying result falls outside the permitted years may not be eligible for seat allocation through JoSAA or CSAB.
Quotas that decide your seat
- Home State (HS) and Other State (OS) quotas at NITs, with HS applying where you passed Class 12 or your state of eligibility.
- All India quota at IITs, IIITs and most GFTIs.
- Reservations for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS and PwD candidates under central government norms.
- Female supernumerary seats and special quotas such as J&K, Ladakh and defence, as listed in the seat matrix.
