JoSAA 2027

Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) Counselling for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs

JoSAA is the single online counselling that fills B.Tech and B.Arch seats in IITs on JEE Advanced ranks and in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs on JEE Main ranks. JoSAA 2026 ran from 2 June to 16 July 2026.

Mode: Fully online counselling: registration, choice filling, mock allotments, seat allotment rounds, online document upload and fee payment
Frequency: Once a year, in multiple allotment rounds after the JEE Advanced result
Duration: About six weeks of rounds (2 June to 16 July in 2026)

JoSAA publishes opening and closing ranks after every round. Cutoffs change by round, category, gender pool and quota.

How to read cutoffs

The closing rank is the last rank that received a seat in that round for a given institute, programme, quota, seat type and gender pool. A programme is realistic for you if your rank is below the closing rank of the last round for your category, with some margin because cutoffs shift each year.

Ranks are rank lists specific to a category. Use the category rank on your score card for reserved categories, and the common rank list for open seats.

What to expect in 2027

Closing ranks usually loosen from Round 1 to the final round as candidates freeze, float or leave.
Computer Science and related branches close first at every institute.
Seat matrix changes, new institutes and the number of candidates change cutoffs, so use the previous year as a guide and not a promise.
