JoSAA 2026 Cutoff Ranks

Opening and closing ranks for all IITs, NITs, IIITs & GFTIs — understand how cutoffs work and predict your admission chances.

Understanding JoSAA 2026 Cutoffs

JoSAA 2026 cutoffs are the rank ranges within which candidates receive seat allotments in each round. Every institute-program-category-gender combination has its own opening and closing rank. These cutoffs are published on josaa.nic.in after each round and finalized after Round 6.

JoSAA 2026 cutoffs are not pre-announced — they emerge from the actual allotment process. For planning, candidates use previous year (JoSAA 2025) Round 6 closing ranks as a reference. The 2026 cutoffs will be available on josaa.nic.in after each round starting ~June 10, 2026.

JoSAA 2026 Cutoff – FAQs

Common questions about JoSAA 2026 cutoff ranks

1
What is the difference between opening rank and closing rank in JoSAA 2026?
Opening rank is the rank of the first candidate allotted a seat in a particular institute-program-category combination in a given round. Closing rank is the rank of the last candidate allotted that seat. Candidates with ranks between the opening and closing ranks got that particular seat. If your rank is better (lower number) than the closing rank, you have a good chance of getting that seat.
2
Will JoSAA 2026 cutoffs be the same as JoSAA 2025?
JoSAA 2026 cutoffs will be close to 2025 but not identical. Factors that change cutoffs each year include: number of qualified candidates (56,880 qualified JEE Advanced 2026), change in seat matrix, difficulty of JEE exams, and candidate preferences. Generally, cutoffs shift ±5–10% from the previous year.
3
Which round's cutoff should I use for prediction — Round 1 or Round 6?
For admission prediction, always use Round 6 (final round) closing ranks. Round 1 closing ranks are always lower (more stringent) than Round 6, because as rounds progress, seats that were declined get re-offered. Using Round 6 data gives you the most accurate picture of who ultimately got admission.
4
How do I check JoSAA 2026 cutoff for a specific branch?
On josaa.nic.in, go to 'Opening & Closing Ranks' section. Select institute type (IIT/NIT/IIIT/GFTI), then institute name, then academic program. Select the round, seat type (General/SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), and gender. The system shows opening and closing ranks for that specific combination.
5
What are typical IIT Bombay CSE General cutoffs?
IIT Bombay CSE (Computer Science & Engineering) has historically been the most competitive program. In JoSAA 2025, the General-Open category closing rank for IIT Bombay CSE was approximately 60–70 (CRL rank). IIT Delhi CSE closed around 90–100. These programs see minimal movement between rounds due to high demand.
