Counselling is won on preparation of the choice list, not on speed. Start before registration opens.
Before registration
- Keep digital copies of Class 10, Class 12, category and PwD certificates ready in the required format.
- Study previous year opening and closing ranks for your category and home state.
- Make a long list in order of true preference: programme and institute together, not just a brand.
- Learn home state versus other state seat counts at the NITs you target.
While choosing
Place ambitious choices first and safe ones last. Use the mock allotments to see where you land, then reorder. Do not leave out safe choices, because an empty tail can leave you without a seat in a round.
Common questions to settle in advance
- Branch against institute: decide which matters more before you rank.
- Which seat you will Freeze, which you will Float.
- Backup plans such as CSAB, state counselling and institute-level counselling.
