How ranks are made

  • Only candidates who appear in both papers are ranked.
  • Subject marks are the sum of the Paper 1 and Paper 2 marks in that subject. The aggregate is the sum of the three subjects.
  • Marks are awarded as per the final answer key.
  • There is no waiting list and no normalisation in the brochure.
  • A candidate who qualifies in more than one category is ranked in all of them.

Tie-breaking

Step 1: the candidate with higher positive marks gets the higher rank. Step 2: higher marks in Mathematics, then higher marks in Physics. If the tie remains, the candidates share the same rank.

2026 statistics (reported)

Media reports of the IIT Roorkee figures put registrations at 1,87,389, candidates appearing in both papers at 1,79,694, and qualified candidates at 56,880 (including 10,107 women). These numbers are from secondary reports; confirm on jeeadv.ac.in.
