JEE Advanced 2027 Preparation

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official One of the seven Zonal Coordinating IITs on rotation, under the Joint Admission Board notices

JEE Advanced rewards depth and accuracy more than speed. This plan assumes you are also preparing for JEE Main.

Strategy that works

  • Finish the syllabus by the end of December and keep the last four months for tests and revision.
  • Practise multi-concept problems rather than formula drills.
  • Solve previous JEE Advanced papers by type, then full paper simulations in two sittings of three hours.
  • Use the official mock tests in the Resources section to get used to the on-screen keypad.
  • Keep an error log and review it weekly.

Subject-wise tips

  • Physics: master mechanics and electromagnetism; do all listed experiments for error analysis questions.
  • Chemistry: organic reaction mechanisms and physical numericals pay off; read NCERT inorganic line by line.
  • Mathematics: calculus, coordinate geometry and algebra carry the most weight; practise long computations by hand.
  • NCERT Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (Class 11 and 12)
  • H.C. Verma, Concepts of Physics; Irodov for advanced practice
  • Physical Chemistry by N. Awasthi or P. Bahadur; J.D. Lee for inorganic; M.S. Chouhan or Morrison and Boyd for organic
  • Cengage or Arihant series for Mathematics; Sameer Bansal or similar for coordinate geometry

Month-by-month plan

PeriodFocus
Months 1-6Complete Class 11 topics with problem solving
Months 7-10Complete Class 12 topics; start chapter-wise Advanced questions
Months 11-12Revision, JEE Main tests, weak topic repair
After JEE MainSwitch to full-length Advanced papers and past years
Last 2 weeksLight revision, error log, sleep, exam day logistics

Mistakes to avoid

  • Ignoring negative marking and guessing on multiple-correct questions.
  • Leaving Class 12 board marks unattended despite the 75% or top 20 percentile rule.
  • Not downloading the admit card early or carrying forbidden items.
  • Treating the second attempt casually; only two consecutive years are allowed.
