What the rank card shows
- Total score and component scores for Paper I and Paper II
- General Merit Rank (GMR) and Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR)
- Category ranks (SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS, PwD, TFW) where applicable
How ranks are made
GMR comes from the total of Paper I and Paper II scores and is used for all engineering, technology and architecture admissions, and pharmacy at Jadavpur University. PMR comes from Paper II alone and is used for other pharmacy courses. Category ranks appear only on the card. Counselling sequencing uses GMR or PMR, not category ranks.
The Board sets a cutoff rank or score. Not every candidate who gets a rank card is eligible for counselling.
Tie-breaking
| Order | GMR rule |
|---|---|
| 1 | Less negative marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry together |
| 2 | More positive marks in Maths and Physics together |
| 3 | More positive marks in Maths and Chemistry together |
| 4 to 5 | Less negative marks in Maths and Physics, then Maths and Chemistry |
| 6 to 11 | Subject-wise comparison of positive and negative marks on only the 2-mark questions |
| Final | Older candidate by date of birth, then earlier application number |
PMR uses its own rules, starting with less negative marks in Physics and Chemistry together, then more positive marks in Chemistry.
