I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) B.Tech admission counselling
IKGPTU does not hold its own entrance test for B.Tech. Under the Punjab Government notification for 2026-27 it runs the online centralised counselling jointly with MRSPTU, and seats go on inter-se merit of the qualifying Class 12 examination. Counselling is online and, per the Punjab Government notification, has two rounds plus a third round that merges vacant reserved seats into the general pool; the 2026 schedule listed three rounds.
Process

Registration
Register and pay the fee on the portal.

Merit rank
Check your merit rank on the result day of the round.

Choice filling
Select colleges and branches in priority order.

Seat allotment
View the round result and accept the seat.

Fee payment
Pay the seat acceptance and tuition fee as notified.

Reporting
Report to the college with originals.

College level admission
After Round 3, leftover seats are filled at campus or college level, and management quota seats by the private colleges.
Other points
- Tuition Fee Waiver seats are shown in the seat matrix for B.Tech, BCA and B.Pharmacy and need a Punjab resident with annual family income below Rs 8 lakh.
- The counselling is joint with MRSPTU, Bathinda, and the seat matrix covers colleges and campuses of both universities.
- A confirmed seat can be surrendered after a round result and the candidate can join the next round.
- Management quota seats are handled by individual colleges under state rules.
