Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) UG Scheme

DASA is the Ministry of Education scheme that gives foreign nationals, OCI and PIO cardholders and NRIs supernumerary seats in NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other centrally funded institutes. There is no DASA exam: seats are allotted on JEE Main rank.

DASA 2027 Counselling

DASA counselling is the whole admission process. The 2026 version had two allotment rounds.

Stages of seat allocation

  1. 1

    Registration and DEF

    Register and pay the DASA Enrolment Fee.

  2. 2

    Documents

    Upload documents and answer verifier queries.

  3. 3

    Balance DEF

    Pay any balance DEF, for example if a CIWG claim is not accepted and you move to Non-CIWG seats.

  4. 4

    Choice filling and locking

    Fill, save and lock choices. Unsaved choices are not considered.

  5. 5

    Round 1

    Check the allotment and exercise willingness online.

  6. 6

    Round 2

    Check the result. All allotments are treated as accepted.

  7. 7

    Physical reporting

    Report at the institute with original documents and pay the balance fees.

The US$ 300 registration fee is never refunded.

Participating institutes

The 2026 brochure lists 31 NITs and IIEST Shibpur, 18 IIITs and 38 other GFTIs and technical institutes. Examples include Punjab Engineering College, DTU, NSUT, SPA Delhi, Bhopal and Vijayawada, University of Hyderabad and Manipal Institute of Technology. The final list is on the portal.

Reporting

  • Candidates must report physically at the admitting institute and complete formalities.
  • Certificates are re-checked and admission is cancelled if they fail the norms.
  • Original marks card and documents must be produced.
  • Hostel and other fees are paid to the institute directly.
