Preparation for MP DTE means preparing for JEE Main and planning the counselling.
Before counselling
- Keep documents scanned and ready.
- Make a list of colleges and branches ranked by your priority.
- Track your category and domicile certificates.
Choice filling strategy
Fill as many choices as practical, order them by real preference and not by guesswork, and use the last two days to adjust. DTE allows change of choices in the last two days of the period.
Preparing for the JEE Main track
Since MP merit on the main track comes from JEE Main rank, the main exam preparation is JEE Main. A mock-test routine and revision plan for it is on the JEE Main hub. Even a modest rank helps, because Rounds 1 and 2 are restricted to candidates with a valid JEE Main score.
Mistakes to avoid
- Ignoring TFW: choose it at registration if your family income is under Rs 8 lakh, as the choice is made during registration with an income certificate.
- Not paying the seat acceptance fee on time, which cancels the allotment.
- Choosing freeze when float would keep a better branch in play.
- Counting on the Class 12 track alone, as it only covers seats left after the JEE Main rounds.
