LPU NEST 2027 Preparation

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Lovely Professional University notices

A Class 12 level preparation is enough for most of the paper. The B.Tech paper is about 100 questions (25 per subject), 400 marks, 150 minutes, with no negative marking.

Study plan

  • Revise NCERT Physics, Chemistry and Maths of Classes 11 and 12.
  • Practise fill in the blank numericals, as they have no options to guess from.
  • Take timed mock tests of 150 minutes.
  • Improve English with comprehension passages and grammar practice.

Strategy

Attempt all questions since there is no negative marking. Start with the section you are strongest in. If you plan to appear in more than one phase, use the first attempt to learn the interface.

Time split

With 25 questions per subject you can plan about 30 minutes for each of the four sections and keep 30 minutes spare for fill in the blank numericals and review. English can be done in under 20 minutes, which frees time for Maths and Physics calculations.

Scholarship angle

LPU links its scholarship, up to Rs 8.40 lakh, to the NEST score, so a higher score has direct fee value. Treat the first sitting as a rehearsal and use a later phase if the rules allow a retake, then compare the score with other scholarships.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving any question blank, since wrong answers are not penalised.
  • Skipping fill in the blank practice, which needs exact numerical answers.
  • Not testing your webcam, internet and room set-up before a remote proctored slot.

Back-up options

LPU asks for 60 percent in Class 12 for B.Tech. Keep JEE Main, JoSAA and state counselling as your main route and treat NEST as one more option.
