HSTES 2027 Preparation

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Haryana State Technical Education Society notices

HSTES depends on your JEE Main rank, so preparation means JEE Main plus paperwork. HSTES runs 2 online rounds, then institute level counselling, and fills 85% of seats from Haryana residents.

Rank strategy

  • Prepare for JEE Main with NCERT and previous papers.
  • Take both January and April sessions if available, since the best valid rank is used.
  • Check cutoffs from earlier rounds before choice filling.

Paperwork

Get your PPP ID created and verified well before registration, and obtain a valid category certificate. Unverified PPP data can move you to General category.

Eligibility check

The brochure asks for 45 percent in the Class 12 subjects (40 percent for reserved categories), so protect your board marks along with JEE Main. The registration fee is Rs 1,000 for General and Rs 700 for reserved categories and is non-refundable, so register only after you have checked eligibility and documents.

Choice filling

  • Fill many choices in true order of preference.
  • Include some safe colleges.
  • Use Round 2 to upgrade.
  • Do not lock choices at the last minute; lock before the deadline and save a printout.

Back-up options

Keep JoSAA and CSAB as your main route if your JEE Main rank is strong, and use HSTES as a state-quota back-up. Haryana candidates should also check UIET and YMCA closing ranks of earlier rounds, since many seats open in the second round.
