Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Assam Science and Technology University notices

Counselling is run online by the State Council for Technical Education, DTE Assam, not by ASTU.

Process

  1. 1

    Counselling guidelines

DTE Assam issues the Counselling Guidelines each year on dte.assam.gov.in.

  2. 2

    Register

Register online, upload documents, pay the counselling fee. In 2026 registration was reported for about 10 to 17 July.

  3. 3

    Choice filling

Select colleges and branches in order of preference. Branches available depend on your Class 12 subjects.

  4. 4

    Seat allotment

Seats are allotted by CEE rank, category and preference. Reports mention at least two rounds in July 2026 and further rounds after that.

  5. 5

    Accept and report

Pay the seat acceptance fee, upload or submit documents, and report to the allotted college by the deadline.

Colleges and seats

CEE seats are in government engineering colleges of Assam, including Assam Engineering College (Guwahati), Jorhat Engineering College and Bineswar Brahma Engineering College (Kokrajhar). Reported seat totals vary between sources (roughly 1,335 to 1,825), so rely on the DTE seat matrix for the exact number.

Documents usually needed

  • CEE admit card, rank card and printed application form.
  • Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and certificates.
  • Permanent Residence Certificate of Assam.
  • Category certificate; non-creamy layer certificate for OBC/MOBC.
  • Character certificate, medical fitness certificate and passport photographs.
  • Certificates for special quotas such as CGE or the government school quota.

Fees

Reports give the counselling registration fee as Rs 600, 700 or 800, and tuition fees at government colleges in the range of Rs 35,000 to Rs 50,000 per year. These are from third-party sites; read the DTE guidelines for the real amounts.
