JCECE 2027 Preparation

Your state rank follows your JEE Main rank, so preparation is the same as for JEE Main. There is no separate JCECE paper for the State Merit List.

What to do

• Prepare for JEE Main with NCERT and previous year papers.
• Get the local resident certificate and category certificates made well before the notice.
• Check that the category in your JEE Main form matches what you will claim.
• Keep scanned documents ready for the online application.

After JEE Main

Watch the board website from June. The 2026 notice appeared on 23 June and the window was short, so apply on the first day.

Paperwork checklist

• Local resident certificate from the SDO (Civil) or Deputy Commissioner.
• Category certificate matching the category on the JEE Main form; a mismatch means you are treated as unreserved, with limited exceptions.
• Income certificate if you want the tuition fee waiver, which needs family income up to Rs 8 lakh.
• Class 12 marksheet showing 45 percent (40 percent for reserved categories) in the listed subjects.

Rank and choice strategy

Because the State Merit List is built from JEE Main rank, every mark in JEE Main moves your state rank. Take the better of your attempts and check both state rank and category rank when the list is out. Fill a long choice list with at least one safe institute, and complete the document verification step promptly so your allotment is not held back.

Back-up options

Treat JCECEB as a state-level back-up to JoSAA and CSAB. If a JoSAA seat is likely, compare it with your Jharkhand options before paying any fee.
