BCECE 2027 Preparation

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board notices

A plan based on NCERT and negative-marking discipline works best for BCECE. Per the 2026 prospectus, each paper has 100 questions in 90 minutes with 4 marks for a right answer and 1 mark deducted for a wrong one.

Study plan

  • Finish the Class 11 and 12 NCERT in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (or Biology).
  • Make formula sheets chapter by chapter and revise weekly.
  • Solve board and previous-year papers when available, and mock tests under a 90 minute limit.
  • Practise speed, because each paper has 100 questions in 90 minutes.

Exam strategy

Attempt your strongest subject first. With a -1 penalty, skip questions where you are unsure between more than two options. Keep a few minutes at the end to check OMR bubbles.

If you are also writing JEE Main, the same preparation covers most of the BCECE engineering syllabus.

Time per paper

At 100 questions in 90 minutes you have about 54 seconds per question. Aim to finish a first pass in 70 minutes, marking doubtful questions, and use the last 20 minutes for those and for OMR checking. Because each subject is a separate paper in this format, practise each paper as its own 90 minute mock.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Guessing blindly: at +4 and -1, a guess pays off only if you are right more than one time in five.
  • Ignoring Bihar paperwork: keep the domicile and category certificates ready before the rank card is out.
  • Filling too few choices in counselling: BCECEB runs several rounds plus a mop-up, so lock a long list in true order of preference.

Back-up options

Keep JEE Main and the Bihar UGEAC counselling route in mind as a second path, and compare BCECE closing ranks with your expected rank before filling choices.
