Manipur Technical University (MTU) B.Tech admission, JEE Main preference and MTU entrance test
Manipur has no common state engineering entrance test. Manipur Technical University admits B.Tech students with preference for JEE Main scorers and an MTU entrance test for remaining seats. NIT Manipur and IIIT Manipur use JoSAA or CSAB instead.

Academic requirement
For Civil and Mechanical Engineering, candidates need Class 12 with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. For Computer Science, Electrical, and Electronics and Communication Engineering, Physics and Mathematics are compulsory plus one approved subject such as Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology or Biotechnology.
The marks in the relevant subjects taken together must be at least 45%, and at least 40% for reserved categories.
Age limit
The 2026 notice required the date of birth to be on or after 31 July 2001. The upper age limit was relaxed by 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC, ST and PwD candidates. The date of birth is taken from the Secondary Education board certificate. The limit moves every year, so check the new notice.
Entrance score
- JEE Main 2026 is preferred but not compulsory under the 2026 notice.
- Candidates without JEE Main take the MTU entrance test.
