IPU CET 2027

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (GGSIPU CET)

IPU CET is the entrance test GGSIPU holds for many of its programmes. For engineers the key point is that regular B.Tech is admitted on JEE Main rank, and the CET matters mainly for B.Tech Biotechnology and lateral entry.

Conducted by
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Dwarka, New Delhi
Mode
Offline/online test centres in Delhi NCR (mode differs by programme; check the information bulletin). Regular B.Tech is filled through JEE Main counselling, not through the CET
Frequency
Once a year
Duration
2 hours 30 minutes for most programme papers (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM shifts in 2026)

IPU CET 2027 Preparation

Updated on 18 October 2026 · Compiled from official Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University notices

Preparation depends on the programme you choose. The reported CET paper is 100 questions, 400 marks, +4 and -1, in 2.5 hours.

For B.Tech Biotechnology

  • Cover NCERT Class 11 and 12 for Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology.
  • Because Biology carries the largest share, finish all NCERT Biology chapters first.
  • Practise past papers in 2.5 hours with the 400 mark pattern.

Weightage-based split

As reported, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics carry about 20 percent each (roughly 20 questions) and Biology about 40 percent (roughly 40 questions). Give Biology about 40 percent of your study hours, and split the rest evenly. In a mock, aim to clear the 40 Biology questions in about 40 minutes, since they are mostly recall, and keep the longer numerical time for Physics and Maths.

For the JEE Main route

If you want regular B.Tech at IPU colleges, your preparation is JEE Main preparation. A strong JEE Main percentile and rank matter, and the counselling is separate from any CET.

Time management

At 100 questions in 150 minutes you have about 90 seconds per question. Attempt the sections you are strongest in first and avoid guesses, given the negative marking reported for most papers.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Ignoring Biology because you are a PCM student: it is the largest share for the Biotechnology paper.
  • Guessing freely: at +4 and -1 a guess needs better than one chance in five to pay off.
  • Not checking the bulletin for the mode of the test and the exact negative marking before the mock routine is fixed.
