Prepare documents and a ranked list before the window opens. Merit is your JEE Main rank, with an 85% Delhi Region and 15% Outside Delhi quota split.
Before registration
- Check that your Class 12 marks meet the minimum (60 percent PCM at NSUT, DTU, IGDTUW and DSEU; 70 percent at IIIT-Delhi).
- Keep scans of certificates and Delhi Region proof ready.
- Study the previous year opening and closing ranks for your quota.
Quota planning
Find out early whether you qualify as a Delhi Region candidate, because that decides which 85 percent pool you compete in. Outside Delhi candidates compete for only 15 percent of seats, so their closing ranks are much tighter and they should keep stronger back-up options.
Choice filling
Rank programmes by what you want, not just by institute. Include safe options, because the Outside Delhi quota is small and fills quickly. Compare with JoSAA and decide which counselling you value more before accepting a seat.
Timeline discipline
- Registration in 2026 ran from 28 May to 9 June, and the round 1 result came on 15 June, so keep documents ready in May.
- Pay the Rs 1,500 counselling fee on time; it is non-refundable. Keep Rs 95,000 ready for the seat acceptance fee.
- Note each round's reporting and fee deadlines, since a missed deadline can cancel the seat.
Back-up options
Keep JoSAA, CSAB and IPU counselling as parallel options and compare your likely seats before the JAC rounds end.
