About JEE Main 2026 Syllabus

The JEE Main 2026 syllabus followed the NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 curriculum, as revised and rationalized in 2023–24. NTA's information bulletin and syllabus document specify the exact topics for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Topics removed in the rationalization exercise (reportedly including Communication Systems, Mathematical Induction, Mathematical Reasoning and several Chemistry units) were excluded from the 2026 syllabus. The topic groups below are a summary, not the full official list; refer to the NTA PDF for the precise units.

Which topics were dropped from JEE Main syllabus?
Coaching and education sites report that the 2024 revision removed Communication Systems from Physics, Mathematical Induction and Mathematical Reasoning from Mathematics, and several Chemistry units such as Hydrogen, s-Block Elements, Surface Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Polymers, plus topic-level cuts in other units. These lists differ between sources and we could not verify them against the NTA PDF, so check the official document.

Which were the most important chapters for JEE Main 2026?
High-weightage chapters in Physics: Mechanics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Modern Physics, Thermodynamics. In Chemistry: Organic Chemistry (reaction mechanisms, GOC), Chemical Bonding, Electrochemistry, Coordination Compounds. Is NCERT enough for JEE Main?
NCERT is essential and is the main source for much of Chemistry, especially Inorganic. For Physics and Mathematics, NCERT should be supplemented with standard reference books like HC Verma (Physics), RD Sharma/Cengage (Maths) for practice problems. Do not skip NCERT examples or exercises.

How many chapters are there in the JEE Main 2026 syllabus?
NTA lists the syllabus as units rather than a fixed chapter count, and the unit count changed after the 2024 pruning. Treat any single total as approximate and use the official NTA syllabus PDF for the exact units in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
