JEE Main Cutoff 2026 – Qualifying Marks for JEE Advanced

General ~89–91 percentile · OBC-NCL ~74–76% · SC ~54–56% · ST ~44–46% · EWS ~73–75%

Two Types of JEE Main Cutoff

There are two distinct cutoffs associated with JEE Main 2026:

1. JEE Advanced Qualifying Cutoff: This is the minimum NTA percentile required to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2026. NTA releases this cutoff along with the final JEE Main results. Top 2,50,000 unique candidates (across both sessions) qualify, subject to category-wise distribution.

2. NIT/IIIT/GFTI Admission Cutoff (JoSAA): These are the opening and closing ranks at which specific branches of NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs fill up during JoSAA counselling rounds. These vary by institute, branch, category, and home/other state quota.

NIT Admission Cutoff – Key Facts

NIT cutoffs via JoSAA 2026 are significantly higher than the JEE Advanced qualifying cutoff. For premier NITs like NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, NIT Calicut, and NIT Surathkal, CSE branches close within the top 5,000–10,000 ranks. Even for ECE and Electrical, top NITs close within 15,000–40,000 rank range for General category.

Newer NITs and GFTIs offer more accessible cutoffs. CSAB Special Round also fills unfilled seats at NITs after JoSAA, sometimes at ranks above 1,50,000 for non-popular branches.
