Recommended Paper-Solving Strategy

Phase 1 (Concept Building)

Solve 2021–2022 papers in untimed mode. Focus on understanding solutions, not speed. Chapter-wise paper solving is ideal at this stage.

Phase 2 (Exam Simulation)

From 60 days before the exam, solve 2023–2025 papers under strict 3-hour exam conditions. Simulate the exact test environment.

Phase 3 (Review & Iterate)

After each paper, spend 1–2 hours reviewing mistakes. Mark weak chapters and revisit them. Track your percentile improvement over time.

Phase 4 (Final Week)

Go through only high-frequency topics and formulas. Avoid solving new papers in the last 3–4 days before the exam.

NTA releases the official question paper PDF and answer key within 1–2 days of the exam for all shifts.

How many JEE Main previous year papers should I solve?
At minimum, solve the last 5 years (2021–2026) — this covers the CBT-era papers with the current 20 MCQ + 5 Numerical format. For thorough preparation, solving all papers from 2019 onwards (post-NTA era) is strongly recommended. Older papers (2014–2018, CBSE era) are useful for concept clarity but the format has changed.

Are questions repeated in JEE Main across years?
Not verbatim, but approximately 40–50% of JEE Main questions are based on patterns, concepts, or slight variations of previous year questions. Especially in Chemistry, many factual and formula-based questions closely mirror past papers. In Maths and Physics, concept-application patterns repeat frequently.
