JEE Main 2027 Session 2 Exam Day Guidelines

What to expect — reporting time, documents, prohibited items — based on recent years' established rules.

Important: JEE Main 2027 has not happened yet and the official exam-day advisory for it has not been released. This page explains what to expect based on NTA's guidelines from recent sessions — always follow your actual 2027 admit card instructions once issued.

Reporting Time and Entry

Based on established practice, candidates should expect to report to their allotted exam center well ahead of the exam start time — typically 1.5 to 2 hours earlier in recent years — to allow time for document verification, frisking, and biometric capture. Gates have generally closed strictly at a specified time, after which entry is not permitted. Exact reporting times for 2027 will be printed on the admit card.

Documents to Carry (Based on Recent Years)

  • Printed admit card (color printout generally recommended)
  • Valid original photo ID proof as specified in the admit card
  • Passport-size photograph matching the one uploaded during application

Prohibited Items (Based on Recent Years)

  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and any electronic gadgets
  • Books, notes, geometry boxes (except for Paper 2A drawing candidates)
  • Bags, wallets, and metallic jewelry/accessories

See our Session 2 dress code page for clothing-specific guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about JEE Main 2027 Session 2 exam day

1
What time should I reach the exam center for JEE Main 2027 Session 2?
Exact 2027 reporting times will be printed on your admit card once issued. Based on recent years, candidates have generally been advised to report at least 1.5 to 2 hours before the exam start time to complete frisking, biometric verification, and seating allocation comfortably.
2
What documents are typically required on exam day?
In recent years, candidates have needed to carry a printed admit card, a valid original photo ID (such as Aadhaar, PAN, passport, or school ID as specified), and the same passport-size photograph used during application, for affixing on attendance sheets. Confirm the exact 2027 list from your admit card once released.
3
What items are typically prohibited inside the exam hall?
Electronic devices (phones, smartwatches, calculators, etc.), written material, geometry boxes (except for Paper 2A drawing test), bags, wallets, and metallic items have generally been prohibited inside JEE Main exam halls in recent years. A transparent water bottle has often been allowed.
4
Can I carry my own stationery for JEE Main 2027?
In recent cycles, candidates have generally not needed to carry their own stationery for Paper 1, since NTA provides rough sheets at the center for a CBT exam. B.Arch (Paper 2A) candidates have typically needed to carry their own geometry box and coloring materials for the drawing section, as per that year's specific instructions.
5
What happens if I arrive late to the exam center?
In past years, candidates arriving after the specified gate-closing time have generally not been permitted entry, regardless of traffic or other reasons. Planning to arrive well within the reporting window is the safest approach.
