UPTAC 2026 Round 3 Seat Allotment

How to check your Round 3 result on the AKTU SAMARTH portal, what changes from Round 2, and how to decide between Freeze and Float before the Round 4 auto-freeze round.

Round 3 follows Round 2 in AKTU's 4-round UPTAC 2026 schedule. All 4 rounds concluded (Round 4 declared August 3, 2026), followed by Special Round registration (August 8–9) and Special Round 2, whose seat allotment and physical reporting ran September 3–7, 2026 — marking the effective end of UPTAC 2026 counselling. Always confirm any residual status at uptac.samarth.edu.in.

Understanding UPTAC 2026 Round 3 Allotment

Round 3 is the third seat allotment round of UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling) 2026, conducted by AKTU for B.Tech, B.Pharm, MBA, and MCA admissions across 600+ government, government-aided, and private institutes affiliated to the university. It evaluates candidates who chose Float after Round 2 as well as candidates who remained unallotted through Rounds 1 and 2. If you haven't reviewed the Round 2 allotment guide, it's worth understanding that stage first since Round 3 outcomes build directly on it.

By Round 3, government and government-aided institutes — HBTU Kanpur, MMMUT Gorakhpur, KNIT Sultanpur, IET Lucknow — have typically filled their most competitive CSE/IT branches almost entirely, so movement in Round 3 concentrates more heavily among private AKTU-affiliated colleges, which carry much larger seat capacity. A meaningful share of Round 3 movement also comes from candidates who Froze in Round 1 or Round 2 at top institutes, occasionally later withdrawing and releasing capacity back into the pool.

Since Round 4 functions as an auto-freeze round — where any candidate still floating is automatically locked into the best seat they've held across all rounds — Round 3 is the last round where actively choosing to Float carries a meaningful decision point. Because Float can never result in a worse seat than your current allotment, most candidates who are not already at their first-preference choice continue to Float through Round 3 as well.

UP government reservation norms — 27% OBC, 21% SC, 2% ST, and 10% EWS, along with horizontal reservations for PwD and women candidates — continue to apply afresh in Round 3, layered with the UP domicile reservation at state-funded institutes. Candidates should re-check their eligibility across categories, since vacancy patterns shift each round as other candidates accept, upgrade, or withdraw.

Steps to Follow After Round 3 Result

1

Check Your Round 3 Allotment

Log in to uptac.samarth.edu.in and download your Round 3 allotment letter, verifying institute, branch, and category carefully.

2

Compare with Your Round 2 Seat

If upgraded, your earlier seat is automatically released once you accept the new allotment. If unchanged, your earlier seat and payment carry forward.

3

Pay Any Fee Difference

If upgraded to a higher-fee institute, pay the difference online within the deadline, typically 2–3 days.

4

Choose Freeze or Float for Round 4

Freeze locks your seat permanently. Float keeps you eligible for the Round 4 auto-freeze process — you cannot end up with a worse seat by floating.

5

Prepare for Round 4 (Auto-Freeze)

Understand that Round 4 automatically finalizes floating candidates into their best-ever allotted seat — no further action is typically needed beyond this if you continue floating.

What to Do Based on Your Round 3 Situation

Got an upgrade

Your Float worked. Accept the new seat, pay any fee difference, and decide Freeze or Float ahead of the Round 4 auto-freeze process.

No change from Round 2

Nothing opened up for your rank/category yet. Your earlier seat remains valid — keep Floating if you want a shot at Round 4.

Got a seat for the first time

Accept the seat and complete fee payment within the deadline. Float to try for a better option in Round 4, or Freeze if satisfied.

Still no seat after Round 3

You remained in the pool automatically for Round 4 and the two Special Rounds that followed, the last of which completed physical reporting September 3–7, 2026. Consider whether your choice list covered enough private AKTU-affiliated colleges.

UPTAC 2026 Round 3 Allotment – FAQs

Common questions about UPTAC 2026 Round 3 seat allotment and next steps

1
How does UPTAC Round 3 fit into the overall 2026 schedule?
UPTAC 2026 counselling, conducted by AKTU (Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University), ran across 4 main rounds plus Special Rounds. Round 3 followed Round 1 (allotment July 18) and Round 2 (allotment declared July 24), and was itself followed by Round 4, which was an auto-freeze round. Round 3 processed candidates who chose Float in Round 2 as well as those still unallotted.
2
How do I check my UPTAC 2026 Round 3 allotment result?
Log in to uptac.samarth.edu.in with your JEE Main 2026 application number and UPTAC password. Go to 'Seat Allotment' to view your Round 3 result, showing the allotted institute, branch, and category. Download the allotment letter as a PDF, which you'll need for fee payment and physical reporting.
3
Should I Freeze or Float after UPTAC Round 3?
Float keeps your Round 3 seat as a guaranteed backup while AKTU attempts to allot you a higher-preference option in Round 4. Since Round 4 is an auto-freeze round — meaning floating candidates are automatically locked into their best-ever allotted seat once it concludes — there is generally no downside to floating through Round 3 unless you have already secured your first-preference institute and branch.
4
What happens if I don't get any upgrade in Round 3?
If no better option is available for your rank and category in Round 3, you simply retain your Round 2 allotment (or your Round 3 result if this is your first allotment). There's no penalty for not receiving an upgrade — you remain automatically eligible for Round 4, the final auto-freeze round, and any Special Rounds that follow.
5
Do I need to pay the seat acceptance fee again after a Round 3 upgrade?
If your Round 3 allotment is an upgrade, you typically only need to pay the fee difference if the new institute has a higher fee structure — the SAMARTH portal tracks your existing payment against the new allotment. Always verify the exact amount due directly on your downloaded Round 3 allotment letter.
6
What documents are required for reporting after UPTAC Round 3?
Carry your JEE Main 2026 scorecard, Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates, category certificate (if applicable), UP domicile certificate (if claiming state quota), migration certificate, passport-size photographs, and the Round 3 allotment letter along with the fee payment receipt for physical reporting at the allotted institute.
