How to Use the JoSAA 2026 Schedule
Registration window is very short — typically 5–7 days. Set a calendar reminder for the opening date and register on Day 1 to avoid last-minute portal congestion.
Choice filling is the most critical step. You have roughly the same 5–7 day window. Fill at least 50–80 choices in priority order. Do not lock a short list — broader choices improve your odds of an upgrade in later rounds.
Mock allotments are not final. They show your likely seat based on current choices and give you a chance to reorder preferences. Use both Mock Allotment 1 and 2 to refine your list.
After each round, you have 2–3 days to pay the seat acceptance fee and select Freeze/Float/Slide. Missing this window means your allotment is cancelled.
Round 5 is final. After Round 5, JoSAA closes. Remaining vacant seats go to CSAB special rounds. If you didn't get a seat in Round 5, register for CSAB immediately.
