JoSAA 2026 Registration
How to Register on josaa.nic.in · Step-by-Step Process · Fee & Deadlines
What is JoSAA 2026 Registration?
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) 2026 registration is the first step to participate in centralized counselling for admissions to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 54 GFTIs. Without completing registration, you cannot fill choices or be considered for any seat allotment round.
Registration is done entirely online on the official portal josaa.nic.in. JEE Advanced 2026 result was declared on June 1, 2026. Registration opened June 2, 2026 and choice filling closed June 11, 2026. Round 1 allotment was released on June 13, 2026.
Both JEE Advanced qualified candidates (for IIT seats) and JEE Main qualified candidates (for NIT/IIIT/GFTI seats) register on the same portal. There is no separate registration for IITs and NITs.
Who Can Register for JoSAA 2026?
| Candidate Type | Eligibility | Institutes Available |
|---|---|---|
| JEE Advanced 2026 Qualified | Must have qualified JEE Advanced 2026 with a valid rank | IITs + NITs + IIITs + GFTIs |
| JEE Main 2026 Qualified (only) | JEE Main rank + 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST) or top 20 percentile in board | NITs + IIITs + GFTIs only |
| Foreign Nationals / OCI | JEE Advanced 2026 qualified foreign nationals | IITs (DASA route for others) |
The 75% eligibility criterion is for NIT/IIIT/GFTI seats. IIT admission depends only on JEE Advanced rank — there is no minimum Class 12 percentage for IITs (though most boards require passing Class 12).

Common Mistakes to Avoid During Registration
- Don't enter wrong date of birth — it must exactly match your JEE records.
- Don't use someone else's email or phone number — all OTPs and notifications go to these.
- Don't forget to download the registration confirmation and note your application number.
- Don't wait for the last day — portal traffic is highest on deadline day causing slowness.
- Don't assume registration = choice filling. Choice filling is a separate step after registration.
- Don't register on any portal other than josaa.nic.in — beware of phishing sites.
