Your central hub for JoSAA 2027 — registration, choice filling, seat allotment process, documents, and category-specific guides for IIT/NIT/IIIT/GFTI admissions.

Disclaimer: JoSAA has not released any official notification, schedule, or brochure for the 2027 counselling cycle as of October 2026. No official 2027 dates, seat matrix, or cutoff figures exist yet. All content across JoSAA 2027 pages on this site describes the stable, evergreen counselling process based on patterns from 2024–2026 cycles, and is explicitly framed as "expected" rather than confirmed. Always verify against josaa.nic.in once the official brochure is released.

What Is JoSAA Counselling?

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts a single, centralized counselling process every year for admission into all 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and a number of other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) across India. Rather than each institute running its own admission process, JoSAA pools all seats into one portal and allots them through a transparent, rank-based algorithm — using JEE Advanced rank for IIT seats and JEE Main rank for NIT/IIIT/GFTI seats.

This basic structure has remained unchanged for many counselling cycles, and there is no indication it will change for 2027. What varies year to year is the exact dates, number of seats, and closing ranks — not the underlying mechanism.

The Stable JoSAA Process Flow

  1. 1

    Registration

Register on josaa.nic.in using your JEE Main/Advanced application number once the portal opens.

  2. 2

    Choice Filling

Browse and add institute-branch combinations, then order them by genuine preference.

  3. 3

    Mock Allotment

Preview rounds let you see a sample seat based on your current choice order before you lock.

  4. 4

    Choice Locking

Finalize your choice list before the deadline — no changes possible after this.

  5. 5

    Seat Allotment Rounds

Multiple rounds (historically 5–6) run sequentially, each giving you the option to accept, freeze, float, or slide.

  6. 6

    Document Verification & Fee Payment

After each round's allotment, upload documents and pay the seat acceptance fee within the deadline.

  7. 7

    Physical Reporting

After the final round, report physically to your allotted institute with original documents to complete admission.

JoSAA 2027 – Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about JoSAA 2027 counselling

1
Has JoSAA 2027 started or announced any dates?
No. As of October 2026, JoSAA has not released any official notification, schedule, or brochure for the 2027 counselling cycle. JoSAA counselling for a given year typically begins only after JEE Advanced results are declared, which itself happens after JEE Main sessions conclude. All dates referenced anywhere on this site for JoSAA 2027 are expected/pattern-based estimates, not official announcements.
2
What is JoSAA and who conducts it?
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is the central body that conducts a single, unified counselling process for admission to all IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) in India. It uses JEE Advanced rank (for IITs) and JEE Main rank (for NITs/IIITs/GFTIs) to allot seats through a multi-round online process on josaa.nic.in.
3
What is the typical process flow in JoSAA counselling?
The stable process flow, repeated every year, is: (1) Online registration on josaa.nic.in, (2) Choice filling — selecting and ordering preferred institute-branch combinations, (3) Mock allotment rounds for preview, (4) Choice locking before the deadline, (5) Multiple seat allotment rounds (typically 5–6) where candidates can accept, freeze, float, or slide their allotted seat, (6) Document verification and fee payment after each round, (7) Final physical reporting to the allotted institute. This structure has been consistent across recent JoSAA cycles and is expected to continue in 2027.
4
When is JoSAA 2027 expected to begin?
Based on the pattern of recent years, JoSAA registration typically opens within days of the JEE Advanced 2027 result declaration, which itself depends on the JEE Main 2027 and JEE Advanced 2027 exam schedule (usually completed by June). Exact 2027 dates will only be confirmed once NTA and JoSAA release their respective official calendars — expected sometime in the months closer to the exam cycle.
5
Do I need to register separately for JoSAA if I already registered for JEE Main/Advanced?
Yes. JoSAA registration is a separate, additional step from your JEE Main/Advanced exam registration. Qualifying JEE Main (for NIT/IIIT/GFTI eligibility) or JEE Advanced (for IIT eligibility) only makes you eligible to register for JoSAA counselling — it does not automatically enrol you. You must register on josaa.nic.in using your exam credentials once the portal opens.
6
Where can I find all the JoSAA 2027 guides on this site?
