JEE Main College Predictor 2026 for JoSAA

Predict your NIT, IIIT, or GFTI seat using JEE Main rank, category, and JoSAA's actual allotment pattern

How JoSAA Seat Prediction Works

JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) conducts centralized counselling for all NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and IITs based on JEE Main (for NIT/IIIT/GFTI) and JEE Advanced (for IITs) ranks. For 2026, JoSAA ran 5 allotment rounds, with the final round result released on July 16, 2026. A predictor compares your rank against each institute-branch's historical closing rank (typically the final round) to estimate your realistic options.

Prediction accuracy depends on how closely the current year's applicant pool and seat matrix resemble previous years. Branch-wise demand (CSE > ECE > EEE > Mechanical > Civil, broadly) and institute reputation are the two biggest factors driving where your rank will land.

Using the Predictor Effectively

Open the JEE Main College Predictor, enter your CRL rank, category, home state, and gender, and review the ranked list of NIT/IIIT/GFTI options. Once you have a shortlist, plan the order carefully using our JoSAA choice filling guide, and keep track of the choice locking deadline for each round so you don't miss it.

If your JEE Main rank also qualifies you for JEE Advanced, compare NIT/IIIT options against IIT options side by side using our combined JEE Main + Advanced predictor.

Frequently Asked Questions – JEE Main College Predictor for JoSAA

Common questions about predicting your NIT/IIIT/GFTI seat

1
Is this predictor only for JoSAA, or does it also cover CSAB?
This page focuses specifically on JoSAA — the counselling process for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs across all 6 rounds (JoSAA 2026's Round 5 was the final round, released July 16, 2026). For leftover seats after JoSAA concludes, CSAB Special Round runs separately; we have a dedicated CSAB predictor for that.
2
JoSAA 2026 has already concluded — is this predictor still useful?
Yes. While JoSAA 2026 counselling finished in July 2026, this predictor uses the finalized 2026 closing ranks (and prior years) as a reference baseline. It is primarily useful for students preparing for the next JoSAA cycle who want to understand what rank is typically needed for a given NIT/IIIT/branch.
3
What's the difference between CRL, Home State, and Other State rank in JoSAA?
CRL (Common Rank List) is your overall India rank. NITs reserve 50% seats for Home State (HS) candidates and 50% for Other State (OS) candidates. A candidate often has a much better chance in their home state quota at NITs since competition is restricted to students from that state. IIITs and GFTIs generally don't follow this HS/OS split in the same way.
4
Does the predictor account for all 6 JoSAA rounds or just Round 1?
The predictor uses final-round (typically Round 5/6) closing ranks as the baseline, since that reflects the seat you can realistically secure if you stay in counselling through to the end. Early-round cutoffs are usually tighter because many admitted candidates float to better options in later rounds, freeing up seats.
5
Can I use this for both NIT and IIIT predictions in one place?
Yes, our JEE Main College Predictor covers NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs together in a single rank-based search, so you can compare options across all three institute types for your rank and category.
