CSAB 2026 Rank Card Download Guide

Where to download your JEE Main rank card/scorecard, why CSAB needs it, and what to do if it's missing or has errors.

How to Download Your JEE Main Rank Card

Your rank card is issued by the National Testing Agency, not by CSAB, so it must be downloaded from the official JEE Main website — jeemain.nta.nic.in — rather than from csab.nic.in. Here is the general process:

  1. Go to jeemain.nta.nic.in and locate the "Download Scorecard/Rank Card" link, usually active after the final result and AIR are declared.
  2. Log in with your JEE Main application number and password/date of birth.
  3. Select the correct session (January/April, or the relevant session for your attempt) if prompted.
  4. Download and save the PDF, which shows your raw score, percentile, All India Rank, and category rank.
  5. Print at least one copy to carry for CSAB document verification alongside your other academic and category documents.

Keep in mind that CSAB registration and this rank card download are two entirely separate systems (NTA vs CSAB), so log-in credentials for one will not work on the other. If you registered for CSAB using your JEE Main application number, make sure you are using the same original credentials to retrieve the rank card from NTA's portal.

Why CSAB Requires the Rank Card for Verification

During CSAB's document verification process, your rank card serves as the authoritative proof of your JEE Main performance and rank, cross-checked against the rank you used while registering and filling choices in CSAB. Any mismatch between the rank claimed during registration and the rank shown on the official scorecard can delay or jeopardize your admission, so it's essential the two match exactly.

Along with the rank card, you'll typically also need your provisional allotment letter, category certificates (if applicable), class 10 and 12 mark sheets, and identity proof. Our document checklist covers the full list. If your category on the rank card doesn't match what you declared during CSAB registration, review our application form correction guide for how to address that on the counselling side.

Common Issues & Fixes

  • Rank card link not visible: check whether NTA has released it yet for your specific session/category.
  • Login failing: use your original JEE Main application number and password, not any CSAB credentials.
  • Details incorrect on the card: raise a correction request with NTA directly — CSAB cannot edit NTA-issued documents.

Common questions about downloading your JEE Main rank card for CSAB 2026

1
Where do I download my JEE Main rank card for CSAB 2026?
Your JEE Main rank card (also called the scorecard) is issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA), not by CSAB. It is downloaded from the official JEE Main website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, using your application number and date of birth/password, generally after the JEE Main result and All India Rank are declared. CSAB itself does not generate a separate rank card — it uses the NTA-issued one for verification.
2
Is the rank card the same as the JEE Main result or scorecard?
In practice these terms are often used interchangeably, but technically the 'result' shows your marks/percentile, while the 'rank card' or 'scorecard' additionally shows your All India Rank (AIR) and category rank, issued after both sessions (if applicable) are considered and the final merit list is prepared. For CSAB purposes, you need the rank card version that clearly shows your final AIR and category rank.
3
Why does CSAB need my rank card if I already registered with my JEE Main details?
CSAB's registration process pulls your JEE Main application number and basic details, but document verification requires the actual rank card/scorecard PDF as physical or uploaded proof, cross-checked against category certificates and other academic documents. This is a standard verification step to confirm the authenticity of the rank being used for admission.
4
What if I can't find or download my JEE Main rank card?
First, make sure you're using the correct JEE Main session's login credentials (application number and password/date of birth) on jeemain.nta.nic.in, not the CSAB portal. If the rank card link isn't visible, check whether NTA has released it yet for your session — sometimes state or category ranks are released a few days after the overall result. If access issues persist, contact the NTA helpline, since CSAB cannot issue a duplicate rank card on NTA's behalf.
5
What if there's an error in my rank card, like a wrong category or name spelling?
Errors on the NTA-issued rank card generally cannot be corrected by CSAB — you would need to raise a correction request with NTA through their official grievance or correction window, if one is open for your session. For CSAB-specific detail mismatches (like category selected during CSAB registration not matching your certificate), check our guide on CSAB category change and correction processes for the counselling-side fix.
6
Do I need to print the rank card or is a digital copy enough?
It is best practice to keep both. A digital PDF copy is often accepted for online document upload/verification steps, but if physical reporting or in-person verification is required at any stage, a printed hard copy of the rank card is typically listed as a mandatory document to carry alongside your admit card, category certificates, and mark sheets.
