CSAB 2026 Round-by-Round Process

Special Round 1 (SR1)

SR1 is the first opportunity to fill seats vacant after JoSAA Round 6. Candidates register, fill choices, lock choices, and receive allotment. Allotted candidates must pay seat acceptance fee and confirm. Candidates who do not report after SR1 allotment lose their seat.

Special Round 2 (SR2)

SR2 fills seats remaining after SR1 (either new vacancies or seats not accepted). The process mirrors SR1. After SR2, CSAB generally conducts the NEUT round.

CSAB NEUT Round

NEUT (North-East & Union Territory) is a targeted round for candidates domiciled in the eight North-Eastern states and Union Territories. This round typically has different (often more relaxed) cutoffs due to limited competition within the eligible candidate pool.

Institute Reporting

After the final CSAB round, allotted candidates must physically report to their allotted institute with original documents for verification, fee payment, and final admission within the reporting window.

Frequently Asked Questions – CSAB 2026 Dates & Schedule

Common questions about CSAB 2026 timeline, rounds, and schedule

1
When does CSAB 2026 registration start?
CSAB 2026 registration is expected to open around July 12–18, 2026, a few days after JoSAA Round 6 final allotment. The exact opening date will be announced on csab.nic.in after JoSAA 2026 concludes.
2
How many rounds does CSAB 2026 have?
CSAB 2026 typically runs 2 Special Rounds (SR1 and SR2) plus a CSAB NEUT round for North-Eastern states and Union Territory candidates. Each round has its own choice filling, lock-in, allotment, and seat acceptance window.
3
Does CSAB 2026 clash with state counselling timing?
CSAB 2026 runs in late July–August 2026, which can overlap with state-level counselling (like KCET, MHT-CET, WBJEE counselling). Candidates need to carefully track deadlines across processes if considering both. CSAB and JoSAA seatholders cannot hold two central seats simultaneously.
4
Is the CSAB 2026 schedule confirmed?
No. As of now (June 2026), the official CSAB 2026 schedule has not been released. Dates mentioned on this page are indicative estimates based on the 2025 CSAB schedule. Check csab.nic.in regularly for official announcements.
5
What happens after CSAB Round 2 if seats are still vacant?
After CSAB SR2, remaining vacant seats may be filled through CSAB NEUT (for NE states/UTs) or in some years through institute-level spot admissions. Any remaining seats are typically forfeited or managed by the institutes directly.
